Autumn Leaves 1956 -Joan Crawford, Cliff Robertson, Vera Miles, Lorne Greene

Joan Crawford had played mentally unbalanced characters before, but here she is on the other side of the table and obviously in the last good decade of her career. Crawford is superb - all huge eyes and trembling lips, she makes the relationship with Robertson's character believable and moving. The tentative start to the relationship is especially effective.

I love this movie. She has played some weird characters but now she is the one that is trying to help Cliff Robertson and boy was he a charmer and good looking. So young and they played off each other very well. For her age this was just a classic great movie. Better that when she played the meanie in the Queen Bee and Harriet Craig. You could almost hate if not hate her character in them.
